All sexual violence/assault is a crime.
The Canberra Rape Crisis Centre encourages everyone to seek support and assistance if you feel violated or assaulted in any way.
Sexual assault within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia is alarmingly high. Sexual assault against children, young people, women and men is not acceptable in any circumstances in Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander cultures, and harms the individuals themselves as well as having impacts on the community.
If someone discloses to you that they have been sexually assaulted, then they are talking to you because they trust you. Believe them.
Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people can access support through the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre through the general service or through the Nguru Program which is part of the Centre.
In all emergencies phone the police on 000.
Phone the Rape Crisis Centre any time on (02) 6247 2525.
